AS IT HAPPENED: The 2027 Rugby World Cup draw

The 11th edition of the Rugby World Cup will be held in Australia in 2027 and the draw for the eagerly anticipated tournament took place in Sydney on Wednesday.

The Rugby World Cup has expanded from 20 participating countries to 24 which means there will be a change in format with six pools consisting of four teams.

Prior to the draw, the teams were divided into four bands, based on the current World Rugby rankings.

The full draw for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia:

Pool A: New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong China, Chile
Pool B: South Africa, Italy, Georgia, Romania
Pool C: Argentina, Fiji, Spain, Canada
Pool D: Ireland, Scotland, Uruguay, Portugal,
Pool E: France, Japan, USA, Samoa
Pool F: England, Wales, Tonga, Zimbabwe
