British and Irish Lions, Scotland and Bath star Finn Russell has become the latest rugby star to sign up to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Talent Agency, in yet another huge boost for the sport.
He becomes the second rugby player to sign up with the famous sports promoter’s new agency, following in the footsteps of fellow Lion and England international Henry Pollock. The pair are also joined by UFC star Tom Aspinall on Hearn’s books.
Both Russell and Pollock are represented by Stellar Rugby, which has recently launched a joint venture with Hearn.

In an accompanying video, Hearn also got Pollock to say he was playing ‘matchmaker’ in a reference to a now-viral interview the back-rower did with TNT Sports in which he called the agency ‘matchmaking’.

Russell joining Hearn’s newest venture is the latest in a long line of big investments into British rugby union in recent months.
Newcastle were recently acquired by energy drink and sporting giants Red Bull to become Newcastle Red Bulls, a move which has seen the club undergo a dramatic transformation and spending spree ahead of next season, while Exeter Chiefs are also on the verge of a takeover by an American consortium.
Elsewhere, Bath have also had a major investment from Sir James Dyson, who now owns 50% of the West Country club, while Northampton Saints have also had a cash influx with businessman Steve Zander becoming a minority stakeholder in the club.
